A quick rundown of members that have contributed to this clans growing history. Current members in the clan can be seen on the "Rosters" page.
The Founders
dz.Nogame - (Jan 01' -> Present)Mason founded the clan on the first day of this millennium. At the time he was the best Quake 2 player around and respected by everyone. After building the clan and teaching us all how to play TDM, he drifted into inactivity around the summer of 01'. He re-emerged for stints of Q2 in early 02' and UT2k3 in late '02. Right now he is happily married, with a dog, a white picket fence, and is hopelessly addicted to MMORPG's. He still drops by to say hi now and then.
dz.Khan - (January 01' -> July 01')Khan was the first recruit into dz, literally hours after it's inception. Khan was a quiet guy and a temper that was only matched by his 100-ping accuracy. Within weeks of joining he became THE dueller to beat in the community winning a couple of 1v1 tourney's and making easy work of his fellow dz members on dm1. After some stints in TDM, Rob began to get frustrated and play less. He eventually retired in the summer of 01' and last I heard he was living in Korea and loving it.
dz.Doze - (February 01' -> Present)Brad was in b|d in Quake 2 with Nogame and Khan and had been introduced to Nogame through Vai several months before. He was an easy choice for a third member. Doze steadily built a reputation in the Quake 2 that escalated to ridiculous proportions before he finally left for RTCW. Brad lead Demise in the later parts of 01' and early 02' when Nogame and Vai went inactive. He also helped head up the UT2k3 squad and started for us until he gave up gaming for his girlfriend/job (sound familiar?) in early 03'. The man's an addict though, and quickly organized the roots of the Halo PC team to go to CPL in the winter of 03'. Brad is active again and plans to play UT2k4 for Demise.
dz.Vai - (March 01' -> Present)Vai was the final member needed to actually have a functioning clan. Vai met Doze in early 2000, and had been a clanning buddy with him for over a year. Vai had a small stint in Quake 3 and when he decided to come back Doze recommended him to the rest of the guys. Vai and Nogame had played Quake 2 together some in the summer of 00' and so it all came together. Vai lead the TDM team through the summer of 01' until he eventually went inactive that fall. He started the amusing and short RTCW team, played with Doze in D|S for Quakecon 02', and had a moderately-successful UT2k3 1v1 career. Vai started for the Halo PC CPL team which took 2nd place. Mark plans on being active in UT2k4 this Spring.
The Quake 2 Squad
dz.BF22 - (April 01' -> Present)Ben "Shady", the rail-whore monster. We stole this guy from another top clan back in the day and on every map just put him where there was a railgun. Despite Ben's glamorized aim he was a smart teamplayer that started for us on every map in Quake 2. BF22 went on to be notorious 2v2 partners with Doze as they created sick reputations for themselves and dominated all public servers after the bulk of the clan and scene had gone inactive. Ben eventually found a job, and despite playing a little bit of UT2k3 with us in the demo, he's inactive. He still hangs around and plays a game now and then.
dz.Cl0ud7 - (April 01', Octover 01')Quake 2 Demise's only recruitment on a whim. Tony was a good kid but just didn't fit into the clan ideals we were looking for. He was more of the smack-talking pub-o-rama player. We kindly asked him to leave shortly after. Tony went on to found a clan with players like him called Dark Angels, which gave us our only TDM loss ever in Quake 2. We later found out about a year later he was botting in those matches (was obvious as he had 2/3's of his teams frags and 1/5 their deaths). Eventually we picked Tony up for another week or so (see dz.rizzy for explanation), but again it didn't last. Last I heard Tony was banned from War3 from maphacking and still plays Quake 2 pickups now and then.
dz.Redeye - (May 01' -> January 02')Eric was the crackbaby of the clan. Okay, well when we picked him up he was a good kid. Not the brightest crayon in the box, but somehow he was a very smart player that started a number of maps for us in TDM. On top of that he was a top dueller in the Quake 2 community for awhile. Towards the end of 01' though Eric discovered the glories of narcotics and well... it was downhill from there. After months of us ignoring his stupid IRC ramblings he removed himself from the clan in early 02'.
dz.Bluse - (May 01' - August 01')ACTION JACKSON!!! Bluse was picked up at recommendation of BF22. He was a very talented dueller and we figured we could knock some TDM into him. Well, it never happened. We tried and we tried so hard... the kid had awesome aim... but he just couldn't play TDM to save his life! Bluse spent 6 weeks in Europe and he never really came back to us. Even though he dropped back in, I think he just went back to Europe for another 3-4 months or something. Last I heard from him he moved to Encino, CA for college. I'm sure he's doing well.
dz.shells - (July 01' -> Present)Kris was our chainwhoring bitch. The only guy who could effectively play sweeper in Q2DM1 for us at the time. He was a valuable TDM asset and 1v1 player. Not to mention great all-around friend on IRC. Kris still idles and tells us about his girlfriends, drug experiences, and school days. Kris went inactive in late 01' in favor of real life. He had a quick comeback with uNity (see below) in early 02' for a month. But has been MIA since (mainly because his computer is from 1989 and he's dirt poor).
dz.uNity - (July 01' -> Present)Sean's history with the team goes back to before it was even founded. Sean was a leader and main player in HcT, archrivals of b|d back in late 2000. b|d spawned Demise in 01', so Sean was familiar with the team and it's capabilities. Together with Shaftian (now of cK fame), he gave Demise one of it's closest matches ever (and first ever loss on Q2DM1). At the time Sean was a shit-talking angry little french boy. But he eventually came around and the team saw the better side of him. Sean continued to play through the rest of the year and had stints in 02' with shells. When UT2k3 came out uNity picked up the game as quick as ever and has been a key figure in the team since. Sean later dabbled in some CPM, but plans on being active for UT2k4.
dz.divine - (August 01' -> January 02')Kevin tried to get into Demise for months. Unlike other wannabe's though he continually improved his game, and finally in late summer when we had an opening we let him in. Kevin, at his best was a strong TDM player with sick hitscan aim, and a sound 1v1er. Unfortunately Kevin was barely literate and almost impossible to understand on IRC half the time. Therefore the team coined the term divinglish. We but kow hwo he said things us to and undrstood him goodd we did. Kevin eventually went kind of psycho with cheat accusations, and the final straw came when he accused his clanmates of cheating in friendly games. Kevin hung around the Quake 2 scene for a couple months but eventually disappeared and hasn't been heard from since.
Demise spent a 3 month long hiatus as Vai and Doze joined Darkside to compete at Quakecon. A month after Quakecon, the UT2k3 demo was released...
The UT2k3 Squad
When UT2k3 came out, Doze and Vai took to it pretty fast. Being in D|S at the time, there were about 12 other guys who played too though. Unfortunately, no matter how much noise they made, the leadership of the clan wouldn't recognize their abilities in the game. Frustrated Doze and Vai looked for a new home. Luckily at the time there was a freelancer named Ys playing a lot who was planning on attending CPL. He was looking to join Darkside, and luckily he asked Vai about joining. After some talking, Demise was reborn.
dz.Ys - (September 02' -> Present)Not enough thanks can be given to Mike for taking a chance on us. Mike's honestly an anomally in gaming. I've never met anyone quite like him. Within days of the demo release he was putting away great players soundly in UT2k3. He had great intuition for teamplay and fit into the clan very well. He also made some noise at CPL in December, all of this while being completely new to competitive gaming. After CPL Mike went inactive to focus on school. Eventually Mike's temper wore away relations in the clan, and despite him playing now and again, we didn't hear from him for a few months. Eventually, around August, Mike showed back up interested in Halo coming out. We were skeptical at first, but the first chance he got Mike proved his worth. Mike practiced diligently and become probably our best Halo player. Look for him in UT2k4.
dz.SelfDestruct - (November 02' -> January 03')Back in the fall of 02' Demise only had 4 active members and was hurting for someone just to be around to back us up. At the time there weren't any TDM leagues and we had no reputation in the scene, so getting a decent recruit was extremely hard. SelfDestruct was decent and the only one interested. He was a smart guy in pre-med school. He worked his ass off practicing for a good 1-2 weeks until he got to the point where we let him in as our 5th. Unfortunately as soon as he joined he pretty much gave up. He sat around with his tag on not doing much. At CPL he barely tried and spent more time talking to everyone, sometimes with good, sometimes with bad outcomes. In January we let Mike go due to the lack of investment he gave us. He hung around for a few weeks but disappeared after Ys and Verbal publically ridiculed him enough. A lot of people ask why we let him in the clan. At the time he was the right choice, but he didn't live up to our expectations. He's still a good guy, and I'm sure he's doing well
dz.dnx3 - (December 02' -> Present)Joel was our star replacement when Ys decided to go inactive. With a long gaming history across QW, Q3, CS, and now UT2k3 he was a prime candidate. We had to work on him for months before he finally left Porn Star to join us. But when he did our TDM was raised to a new level. Joel competed for us in TDM throughout 2003 into the late summer, and then continued competed in duels into the fall. He will return for us in UT2k4.
dz.CombatCarl - (April 03' -> Present)Sean was originally a member of our rival team Kaizen in UT2k3. CC left because of uhh... personal differences with infinite, and eventually ended up filling out Doze's spot in our TDM squad as Doze had just gone inactive. CC's raw talent is immense; despite living across the continent with detrimental pings, he shone very brightly in many of our matches. After WCG USA, he went to school and went inactive during Demise's Halo days. He plans on making a return for UT2k4.
dz.lxr - (May 03' -> Present)Bryan was our 5th man during the summer, and sometimes played for uNity, depending on the map. Bryan is a quiet guy who gave us what we were asking for. He's currently a member of the CTF clan Porn Stars, and it's yet to be seen where he'll play for UT2k4.
dz.Lotus - (September 03' -> Present)Lotus is known as possibly the most prolific UT2k3 dueler in America now. He was originally recruited to play Halo with us by recommendation of dnx3 (his practice partner), but ended up not taking to the game. He remains in the clan as a welcome addition and resource to our UT division.
The Halo PC Squad
Starting in about August, The CPL announced its use of Halo PC as a competitive platform at The 2003 Winter CPL. Members who had been inactive immediately were interested in competing in a new game. Some of the UT2k3 guys who were tired after playing for a year became interested too. Despite Lotus, dnx3, CombatCarl and lxr all giving the game a try, none of them liked it (understandably so). The Demise Halo division began as the original UT2k3 founders, Doze, Vai, and Ys. There was no doubt that these 3 guys could find some talented members to round out their roster.
dz.carnage (September 03' -> November 03')Daniel was an extremely talented player. No one doubts this. Vai had met him at some local LAN's and even though knowing he was kind of a loose cannon, sometimes those personalities can add to a teams dynamics. Carnage was recruited and was in top form for a good month; he definitely helped us dominate the Halo scene from the start. After about a month or so, Daniel's immaturity began to show. He was losing interest in the game, and soon found an excuse almost every night to not practice with the team. Simply put, this was unacceptable, as everyone else was sacrificing their personal time and Daniel was being completely disrespectful towards them. After warning him like a 4 year old, we cut him. He joined Wat? and became one of their best, and most uncontrollable members. He placed 3rd at CPL.
dz.nail (September 03' -> Present)Shawn came from an RTCW background, where he placed 3rd at Quakecon with Affliction, a team considered the best in the US at Wolf. He had just the chemistry we were looking for when we recruited him -- the rest of us came from deathmatching backgrounds -- he brought good habits of crossfire and flanking to the table. His depth of strategy made up for his weaker gun, and he plans to stick with the team wherever we go as a welcome addition... and a our Mongoloid Mascot.
dz.xs-pain (November 03' -> Present)Pain is a player with little need for introduction. He was undisputedly the #1 UT 1v1 player in America for years. He originally gave Halo a shot with Kaizen, but they quickly dropped the game. When we cut carnage, we were in need of a player who could learn fast and had tons of talent. Pain fit the bill flawlessly, and hasn't let us down yet. He will continue with us to UT2k4, and will most likely not disappoint.

· The Fable that is Demise
Octover 24, 2002 at 1:04pm by dz.unity
A long time ago, quite a ways from here, there lived a man. Now
this was no ordinary man, for he was known throughout his land.
Most considered him a God, a person who's understanding of the world
that surrounded him was so complete that none could stand before
him in a match of wit. Many came to him in search of enlightenment,
few were granted the opportunity. His prowess was uncontested, and
fear grew in the land, fear that this man, who had become even more
Godlike now than ever, would tear the very fabric of the feeble
worshiper's world apart. The man began to notice this, and grew
weary of those that surrounded him. The fabled Black Dragons clan,
whom he had found a home in, became arrogant. Their confidence rose
to levels that had never before been seen, and upon noticing this,
the man decided it was time for him to leave...
Aiding our hero was another man, a sharpshooter, one who's aim
could not be overcome. His quiet demeanor allowed him to go unseen,
unnoticed, and that is how he liked it. Very few knew of his dominance,
but those who did, feared his presence and watched in awe as he
demonstrated who he truly was. Naturally, when our hero parted ways
with the Black Dragons clan, the man, known as Khan, decided to
follow him. And so it was, the two companions set forth on their
journey.
Having barely left the camp site of the clan, an older fellow stopped
them. He wanted to join them. The two looked at each other, partly
baffled by the question, then amused. How could an old man like
this, who's reflexes have flowed away with the stream of time, possibly
hope to help them ? However, our heroes were of the nicer bunch,
and decided that every one, no matter who they were, should be allowed
to at least try. And so the old man did. Suprisingly, his reflexes
and accuracy went toe to toe with the two men, and quickly, they
formed a strong bond. Words were not exchanged after the duels,
for the elderly man, who went by Doze, was one of them.
Now, our ragtag bunch could not yet be considered a threat to
others, as they were merely travellers, and their intentions went
unknown to all who crossed their path. The people of the land did
not grant them much importance, they almost became legends... spook
stories to tell the naughty children. No one quite knew where they
had gone, and even fewer cared. There was one, however, who had
heard the legends, and foresaw that not only were these legends
true, but that he would join them, and complete their group, so
that they could become the true greats he felt they were. He wandered
nonchalantly into their town, a place of wonders most had forgotten
even existed. The inhabitants were few and far between and no one
dared to speak. Standing high atop their pedestals, Khan, Doze and
the greek God himself, Nogame, greeted the weary traveller and offered
him shelter. They got to talking, and the trio quickly discovered
that under the boy's feminine figure, hidden deep within the confines
of his soul, was pure talent. Their exchanges became of a more intelligent
nature, and as time went on, Nogame got attached to the young man.
Their bond was strong, and now came the time to test the boy's skill,
to hopefully grant him admittance into his new family. The boy passed
the test with flying colors... although the original trio begged
him to cut his hair
.A prophet, who had gotten lost along his travels, or so he claimed,
met with our heroes. He could sense the energy, the skill, the potential
coarsing through the team's veins and felt fear of the likes of
which he had not felt in quite some time... He knew, right then
and there, that the time of the Black Dragon's supremacy had come
to an end, but he dared not say it. He, however, yelled out "You
shall be the demise of us all!" and left, as quickly as he
had arrived.
And so, inspired by the words of the prophet, the clan that would
shape entire worlds and their destiny, Demise, was born.
Soon after, a man who had become a legend on his own because of
his supernatural aim and impressive calm, was spotted by the crew.
The man already belonged to a clan, and while his loyalty was unquestionable,
the riches he could attain by joining Demise were without equal.
The man thought long and hard, and parted ways with those who had
begged him, replacing them with those who were confident enough
to merely ask. Great things awaited the legend who used the codename
BF22.
It did not take long for the masses to hear of the exploits of
those who wore the initials "dz". Many came to their town,
and it grew exponentially... No longer were the echoes of a coin
drop heard throughout town, replaced by words. Never was there a
quiet time. For some, who had never witnessed such power, this was
a chance to make friends in high places. Overnight, Demise became
famous. Old faces began reappearing, ones of people who had heard
of the God through fables, and others who remembered their friends,
the ones they left behind when they headed for new horizons. Demise,
having established their strength atop the land, allowed many close
friends into their ranks... however all was not well.
The prophet who had wandered into town many years ago returned,
and spoke of the coming doom that was to be cast upon them. Demise,
for the most part, shrugged it off and went on with their business.
However, the wise Nogame took the warning to heart, and instructed
his clan to train, and to prepare for what was to come : The toughest
battles in their history. The prophet had hinted at treachery, a
crime that was not taken lightly among the clan.
The one they called cl0ud7 was chosen by the dark lord to do his
biding, and left Demise to start his own clan, one who's sole purpose
would be destruction. They were baptised with the fitting name of
the Dark Angels. Multiple times, the two forces clashed, and the
outcome was always quite bloody. After the dust had settled however,
the minions of the dark lord were crowned champions. Now many of
Demise's followers knew why they had lost, as did the clan itself,
however they would not lower themselves to the level of the victors,
and accepted what they would later refer to as their final lesson.
When the time would be right, they would strike again, and this
time, they would be victorious, holding in their hands the weapons,
and the pride, of their fallen aggressors.
However, darker days engulfed the once peaceful land, and those
able to survive became tired. The blossoming city had become nothing
more than an old relic, where the ancients, the true Demise remained.
Nogame had decided to retreat, he felt he had done his job and that
staying would be pointless. And so he bid farewell to his comrades
and departed. As for the others, namely Doze, uNity, BF22, shells
and Vai, they remained close friends, visiting the forgotten lands
as often as they could, never losing touch. In their hearts, they
all knew the time would come when the land would shine brightly
once more, and patiently, they waited.
Days, months, years passed before the four would reunite again.
Doze and Vai, weary from their travels to the continent known as
Wolfenstein, returned home, greeted by uNity and shells. Both had
stayed to guard the temple where the former Gods of Demise rested.
News travelled from a far away continent, the one dubbed TheRealWorld,
that Nogame would return. The clan rejoiced, and from the former
chaos there spawned a greater order. Deep within the catacombs of
the temple, in a place that very few had witnessed, there sat a
large golden statue, with it's hands reaching out, holding a chest.
As the team crept closer and closer, they grew nostalgic, and found
their old weapons inside the chest, covered in dust, next to the
tags they once wore so proudly...
Emerging from the shadows of the catacombs, the team returned,
and once more sat on top of their temple, where those that had remained
loyal to the clan could once again watch them in awe. But once more,
complications arose. The one who called himself shells, while happy
to help his friends, could not. He had become the prisonner of another
world, one which he couldn't free himself from. Sadly, the one known
as BF22 also became tied up, and, fitting his nickname shady, disappeared
mysteriously. He always was in the town, however he never spoke.
He became a shadow, a symbol of what was once the greatest aim the
land had ever seen. The trio that remained needed to find another
man, one who shared their vision and strength, and one who would
seal their fate.
From their search was found a powerful warrior, known only as Ys.
Approaching him carefully, Doze and Vai convinced the young fighter
to join their cause, and to help recreate what was once a respected
and feared clan. As if Demise's destiny had already been sealed
by the stars, the one man they wanted agreed, and Ys became the
final member. Demise was reborn.
The land was once more covered in fear. Travellers whispered stories
of them, and word spread that Demise had returned. From their small
part of the world, they trained. They became strong, stronger than
they had ever been. Even the greatest prophet, the one refered to
as muiy, ignored their presence until it was too late. Demise's
ascension was complete. They were now a force to be reckoned with,
and upon their newly conquered territory they made their mark. They
swore that the mistakes of the past would not be repeated, and that
they would be known, throughout the whole world, as the best. It
was their ambition, their purpose... their destiny. From afar, the
God, Nogame, watched his former pupils exceed his expectations.
While he was not there physically as much as he would have liked,
his presence could always be felt...
And so, the story continues, through your eyes you will see what
the prophets feared, through experience you will understand why...
It is time for us to rise, and rise we shall...
