All of those settings are found in the in-game F5 menu. If for some reason the mod doesn't automatically bind your F5 key to that menu, you can type in mymenu in the console when connected to a UTComp server to bring it up.

  • Colors
    • Allows you to configure the colors for Red and Blue teams, as well as their respective Heads.
  • Settings
    • Base Skins on Enemy/Teammate?

      If checked, the red skin will always load on teammates, regardless of the actual team the player is in. The blue skin will also always load on ennemies

    • Use Force Model

      Forces every model to the specified settings

    • Force Model by Enemy/Team

      If checked, the red model will always load on teammates, regardless of the actual team the player is in. The blue model will also always load on ennemies

    • Enemy/Blue Model

      Allows you to specify the model used on blue players, or ennemies if Force Model by Enemy/Team is on.

    • Team/Red Model

      Allows you to specify the model used on red players, or teammates if Force Model by Enemy/Team is on.

  • Clan Coloring (1-6)

    Allows you to force a specific color on specific teammate, or a set of teammate. The clan tag box should contain the name of the player for which you want a different color, for example [abc]playername. If you want to force everyone with the [abc] tag to that color, you can use [abc]*
    Make sure to check Enable Player Highlighting on each page that you've set up to enable it.

• Hitsounds
  • Hitsound Volume

    Allows you to change the volume on hitsounds. (duh)

  • CPMA style hitsounds

    Changes hitsounds to a damage model. The higher the damage of a specific shot, the higher the pitch on the hitsound.

  • CPMA Pitch Modifier

    Allows modification of the Pitch on CPMA hitsounds. The higher the scroll bar, the higher the pitch modification.

  • Friendly Hitsound Fike

    For custom friendly hitsounds. Type in the name of the sound file in packagename.nameofsound format.

  • Enemy Hitsound File

    For custom enemy hitsounds. Type in the name of the sound file in packagename.nameofsound format.

  • Enable Auto Demo Recording?

    If enabled, demos will automatically record when a game starts.

  • Demo Naming Method

    Changes the names of the demo recorded. %d = date, %t = time, %p = player name, %m = map

  • Enable Auto Demo Recording?

    If enabled, screenshots will be automatically taken at the end of a game. Note that if Show stats at end of Game? is enabled, it will take one screenshot with the stats menu, and one with the scores.

  • SS Naming Method

    Changes the names of the screenshots taken. %d = date, %t = time, %p = player name, %m = map

  • Enable TDM/CTF Team overlay?

    Enables a Quake3-Style team overlay that shows teammate's locations.

• Voting
  • Allows you to vote for a new gametype and map. Type in the Game number, followed by a space, and the mapname in the Vote Box and click submit. For example, if you wanted to play a 1v1 Deathmatch Game (Gametype #2) on DM-Deck17, you would type in:

    2 DM-Deck17

    in the Vote box, and click Submit. Other players will hear a sound, and see a message that a vote is in progress: they can press F5 to vote yes or no. If more than 50% of the players vote yes, the map and gametype switches.

• Show Stats
  • Show Weapon statistics for the game in progress. Note that every value is separated with a slash, which separates primary firing modes and secondary firing modes. For example, if hits on minigun shows 14 / 37, it means you've hit 14 minigun primary shots, and 37 minigun secondaries.

• callvote

  Shortcut for votes. Instead of going to the voting menu and typing in 2 dm-rankin and clicking submit, you can simply type callvote 2 dm-rankin in the console for the same effect.

• echo

  Allows you to print a message on your screen, useful for scripts. For example, echo hello world! would print hello world! on the player's screen.

• notready

  Used to remove yourself from "ready" state, in warmup mode. When every player has typed in ready, the game starts.

• ready

  Used to notify the server that you're ready, when in warmup mode. When every player has typed in ready, the game starts.

• setvolume

  Allows modification of the main game volume from 0 to 1.

All of those settings will be located in your utcomp.ini under the section [UTCompv11.MUTUTComp].

• bEnableWarmup (default: true)
  • Enables or disables the warmup mode.

    True = Warmup Enabled

    False = Warmup Disabled

• WarmUpTime (default: 0)

  Timelimit for warmup mode in seconds. 0 = Unlimited.

• WarmUpHealth (default: 199)

  Sets the health players spawn with during warmup.

• bONSWeps (default: false)
  • Enables or disables additionnal onslaught weapons in warmup mode.

    True = Onslaught weapons enabled in every game type

    False = Onslaught weapons disabled

• ServerSideEnableHitsounds (default: 1)
  • Enables or disables hitsounds.

    0 = All Hitsounds disabled

    1 = All Hitsounds enabled

    2 = Line of Sight Hitsounds

    Note that this setting takes priority over the Client's settings. If you disable hitsounds entirely serverside, the clients cannot have them on regardless of the setting they use. If you use serversidehitsounds = 1 or 2, then the clients can either turn them off or use the selected server option.

• bServerSideEnableHeadColoring (default: true)
  • Enables or disables colored heads on brightskins for clients.

    True = Clients can set a different color for heads

    False = Head color is forced to be the same as body color

• mode2-7

  Allows you to modify the default game modes or rules for voting, up to a maximum of 6 (From 2 to 7). If, for example, you wanted to change Game mode #7 to Bombing Run, you would change the line mode7= to
  mode7=?game=xgame.xBombingRun?maxplayers=10?timelimit=20?goalscore=0?minplayers=0?mutator=UTComp.mutUTComp,xgame.mutnosuperweapon?friendlyfirescale=0
  This system is very flexible, and allows for just about any combination of settings to be voted. If you want to disable a mode from the voting options, just clear the appropriate modeX= line. (no spaces)

• namemode2-7

  Allows modification of the gametype name that displays in the GUI for the clients. In the previous Bombing Run example, you would want to change namemode7= to namemode7=Bombing Run.

• There is an issue on a few servers in which the timer will not reset after warmup ends. If your server suffers from this bug, disable warmup as a temporary solution. This will be fixed in 1.2.
• If goalscore is set to 1, warmup will end when a team reaches it. This does not happen with goalscore is 0, or goalscore is higher than 1.
• Player brightskins very rarely do not show on onslaught games. We recommend sticking to red/blue brightskins and not going friend/enemy skins in this version.
• In Onslaught, if you have "Show Map" set to either "Immediately" or "When body is still", your Escape menu will pop up when the game countdown starts after warmup. You have to manually close it with ESC before the game starts, it does not go away on its own. Game countdown has been made slightly longer (from 9 seconds to 15 seconds) because of this.
• The Core health in warmup on ONS-Dawn displays 56% instead of 100%. This is because the mod automatically heals the core back to 5000 health every second on warmup to prevent it from being destroyed, yet ONS-Dawn's powercore has 9000 HP instead of 5000, for some reason. This doesn't affect gameplay: when the game starts, it goes back to its original 9000.

• What does FAQ mean?

• Map voting is already built in the game!

  We know. But one thing that's missing in epic's implementation is the ability to turn mutators on/off. For example, 1v1 games are typically played with the No Adrenaline mutator enabled, while Team Deathmatch is played without it. You can't vote it on/off with epic's mapvote, effectively making it useless for multiple gametype servers. With UTComp's voting, you don't need to set up multiple ports for various gametypes anymore, you can just set up one utcomp server, and let the players choose their own gametype through voting. If you don't want players to play a specific gametype on your UTComp server, you can disable them. (Look at the Serverside Settings section for instructions)

• Why did you change the name of the mutator from TCM to UTComp?

  TCM stood for TempCompMod, which was a mutator built as a temporary replacement until the TTM crew would release TTM2004. For various reasons, we felt like this mutator got good enough to be considered a full featured competition mutator, and a name change was needed to reflect that. Another reason is that there was confusion between TCM and TTM. This isn't the case anymore.

• Do you guys have anything to do with Q3Comp or QWComp?

  Other than the fact that the names are similar, no. Those were great mods, however :)

• I'm having issues with Assault, Last man standing, Invasion or Mutant gametypes!

  This mutator's main focus is in competitive gametypes (hence the name UTComp), and currently those gametypes definitely aren't popular enough in competitions to warrant the extra developping and testing time. Support might be added eventually, but it's pretty low on the priority list right now. Note that many features probably work anyway, they just weren't tested.

• "Something" doesn't work!

Did you read all the questions in the FAQ, as well as the potentially relevant sections in Client Side Settings and Server Side Settings? If the answer to your question is not mentionned anywhere, try contacting lotus or dnx3. (Contact info at the bottom of this page) Please make sure that your UT server is working properly: we do not have the time to answer basic UT server questions, only UTComp specific questions. If you need any info on setting up a UT server, I suggest reading the tutorials on The Unreal Admin Page.

• Why do the gametypes for voting go from 2 to 7 instead of 1 to 6? That makes no sense.

  2 is cooler than 1.

• I used F5 as my "strafe left" key. Now this mutator binds it to pop up the UTComp menu automatically! I can't strafe left anymore!

  You gotta be kidding.
